Finally had movie night with Tien and Allison last night, after planning it for 5 months. I got “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” from netflix, so we decided to just watch that without any clue as to what it was about beforehand. The title alone was good enough.
It’s a 1988 film by one of my favorite directors, Pedro Almodovar, and like all of his other films I’ve seen, I really enjoyed it. The campy humor and ridiculous plot keeps you interested and engaged through out the whole movie, and there are loads of really beautiful and interesting shots. The sets have a slight surreal and fake appearance, which adds to the whimsical nature of the film. I read that this is going to be made a stage musical on Broadway in a few months…I’d like to see it for sure.
my favorite scene in the movie. crazy wig lady riding a motorcycle.
one of my favorite shots. it’s awkwardly interesting and slightly uncomfortable
